BOLIVIA: Forced eradication resumes, voluntary to follow

The news that made the big headlines last week was that a union of coca growers had accepted President Evo Morales's invitation to engage in a programme of voluntary eradication of coca bushes. Less prominence went to the news that over the past two months forcible eradication of coca has resumed in the Chapare region and has been proceeding at the same pace as a year ago.
